Tickford Abbey is a most impressive building with a remarkable history dating back to medieval times and is set in magnificent grounds on the banks of the River Ouse. The Home offers the ideal setting for enjoying peace and relaxation. It is a large, late Victorian House, built on the site of a former monastery on the outskirts of Newport Pagnell. Tickford Abbey has a choice of sitting rooms, with different views of the grounds, including a television room and a very popular conservatory.

There is currently accommodation for 28 residents, each having their own private bed-sitting room. Most of these are fitted with en-suite facilities; many have been renovated in the last year. Each room is fully furnished and carpeted to a high standard and has plenty of space for residents'' favourite furniture, pictures and personal effects. The bed-sitting rooms are also equipped with a call bell system, T.V. point, easily accessible light switches and plug sockets. In addition, there are a number of assisted bathrooms/shower rooms and there is a passenger lift with access to all floors.

The Chef and his team are committed to providing interesting and nutritious meals. They always offer a wide choice of dishes and the menus are reviewed regularly and can cater for personal favourites and special or medical diets. A highly dedicated, qualified and experienced team of managers and staff ensure that each person is given the very best standard of care around the clock. Residents are treated with kindness and understanding and are encouraged to lead as full and independent a life as possible. Individual cultural and religious needs are respected. Social activities are organised for residents, and they are at liberty to participate in these or not; regular outings and entertainment are also arranged.

Our philosophy of care
Each Greensleeves home is unique, with settings ranging from a listed Georgian country house, to a modern purpose-built home in a London suburb. What is standard to all the homes, however, is a commitment to offer high quality care for older people in comfortable and affordable accommodation. We aim to take account of individual needs, to respect residents' rights, dignity and privacy and to give them the maximum opportunity to exercise personal autonomy and choice.

Greensleeves homes are registered under the Care Standards Act 2000 for the provision of personal care only. We are able to offer prolonged care for those with a variety of conditions providing that specialised nursing care is not required.

Before you move into one of our homes, therefore, we carry out a full assessment of your health, personal and social needs with you. This helps to decide whether a Greensleeves home will be right for you, and provides the basis for your plan of care when you move in.
