Fir Trees is a very friendly place where we aim to make your stay with us as enjoyable as possible. We have a lot to offer you - such as excellent accommodation, lovely home-cooked food and all the help you need to make your life here pleasant and comfortable.

We have 45 single bedrooms, the majority of which have en suite facilities. Our en suites include a toilet and wash basin as standard and some rooms even have walk-in showers. Each bedroom also comprises a television, telephone point, thermostatic heat control and nurse call system. Some rooms have their own sitting areas and outdoor terraces for the ultimate apartment feel.
There are several lounge and dining areas, quiet rooms and a reception area where you can welcome your visitors. These rooms enable you to be as sociable or private as you wish - spend some quiet time with a good book or join in an activity from our extensive programme.
Fir Trees also includes a purpose-built, fully equipped day care centre. Up to 16 visitors a day can come for care and companionship, in a friendly, safe environment. The social activities available are excellent, and we provide up to three meals during the day. The day care centre also has its own toilet and bathing facilities, separate from the main care home.

Our care team ensures that staffing levels reflect the needs of residents in our care as determined by the Residential Care Forum. We ensure that we have the appropriate number and skill mix of staff throughout the day and night, including weekends and public holidays. We also ensure our care staff are qualified or registered with NVQ Level 2 or above in Health & Social Care.
Meridian Healthcare typically achieves between 70% and 80% NVQ attainment across the group, well above the 50% required standard. Staff in other roles are appropriately trained for their area of expertise.

We know that our residents benefit from having a well-trained and developed team. We endeavour to provide a supportive and encouraging environment for staff, which enables them to give their very best at every level within the care centre.

New staff receive a thorough induction programme and an ongoing plan of vocational and course-based training. We also have qualified assessors at our care centre to support staff through their NVQ training.

Our training programme includes many non-statutory courses and remains focused on quality care provision. We have introduced courses for Safeguarding Adults, Infection Control and specialist development programmes for Senior Care Staff.

Our goal is to provide you with the best possible care in line with our high corporate standards. We look forward to welcoming you to our care centre.
