DESCRIPTION
The Laurels is large, purpose-built home enjoying an excellent reputation in the local area. As well as residential and short stay care, it offers day care facilities and two specialist households for people with dementia, located within dedicated wings of the home. Each household caters for 10-12 residents. The Laurels is situated within a mile of Winsford town centre and is well served by local amenities.
There are a number of attractive lounge areas throughout the home, one of which is for the use of residents who wish to smoke. One lounge is fitted with a hearing loop, a discreet device to improve sound reception and aid those with hearing difficulties. On the first floor is a dedicated activities room. There is a spacious dining area, or residents can choose to have their meal served in their own room if they prefer. There are also a number of kitchenettes around the home, which residents can use to prepare their own snacks or light meals if they wish. Residents at The Laurels also have use of extensive garden areas, all of which are easily accessed by wheelchair. These include a bowling green, a small summer house, a greenhouse and vegetable patch.
THE CARE
For all residents, detailed care plans are developed in conjunction with the resident and in many cases their family. Plans are based on a recognised model of care and have been developed by registered nurses and professionals both within CLS and from external agencies.
Care plans are reviewed at least once a month and include an assessment of residents’ needs, details of what support is needed from other professionals, risk assessments over a number of areas and a number of other aspects that impact on a resident’s care.
The care plans are also designed to make it simple for you to access a clear and accurate history of care and activities provided should you need or wish to.
All CLS homes are staffed by a dedicated and professionally trained workforce. CLS operates a nationally approved training scheme that is unrivalled in the care sector, and is an accredited Investor in People. Every year, around a hundred employees achieve NVQs and specialist training as part of their personal development plans.
