Blackwell Vale is a purpose built care home, providing nursing and social care for the frail elderly and the mentally infirm elderly, in a selection of differing rooms.

Many of our rooms are for single occupancy, although several are large enough for sharing companions. All rooms have either en-suite or washing facilities.

Blackwell Vale is situated on the outskirts of Carlisle, within easy reach of shops and other amenities, public transport and the M6 motorway. Specifically, Carlisle town centre is only 2 miles away.

This home is rated by the Commission for Social Care Inspection as providing ''good'' outcomes for its residents.

THE CARE

Blackwell Vale has TV lounges and quiet sitting rooms (with both smoking and non-smoking areas). The dining areas, where residents can join the company of others at meal times, are also an important feature of the home.

Our Chefs prepare a wide range of home cooked food based upon traditional cooking using fresh produce. Special diets are catered for and daily choices are available.

The home has its own hairdressing salon with a visiting hairdresser. Visits from a qualified chiropodist, a physiotherapist and a speech therapist, plus a range of complementary therapies can be arranged to suit individual requirement.

A varied programme of activities also takes place in the home for the benefit of residents.

DIRECTIONS

From Carlisle Town Centre. From Railway Station head in a southerly direction on the A6 (Botchergate), turn right onto Blackwell Road at the traffic lights, then continue straight onto Durdar Road. Blackwell Vale is on the left.

From the Motorway (M6 jct. 42), take the exit signposted Dalston, continue along until you reach a T-junction with the Black Lion pub on your right. Turn right and continue past the racecourse until you reach the White Ox pub on your left. Blackwell Vale is just along on your right.
