DESCRIPTION
To truly appreciate the wonders of Alderwood, a visit is highly recommended. As the latest Carebase home to open its doors, Alderwood has all of the state-of-the-art facilities you would expect and much more.
Your loved one can choose from a stylishly decorated room with its own delightful garden or one with views across the beautiful gardens. And it doesn’t stop there - the rest of the home offers some wonderful spaces, all tastefully decorated.
The grounds itself houses a large garden with a putting green, allotments, raised flower beds, all designed to give wheelchair users easy access. The home enjoys the best of both worlds – it looks out on to woodlands and has all the charm Colchester has to offer on its doorstep.
There are bar and brasserie areas which are perfect for residents to socialise in. While families are also encouraged to spend as much time as they wish at the home. In fact, there is a beautifully designed private dining room where residents can entertain intimate family gatherings. We also invite families to the endless events we host.
THE CARE
Carebase will set the standard in residential and nursing care through social and clinical excellence and responsiveness to the unique needs of every patient and resident who has chosen to make a Carebase care home their home.
Each home is a community of people with a lifetime of experience, knowledge and memories. Carebase provides accommodation, meals and personal care – such as help with bathing and dressing. And, where required, our fully qualified nurses are always on hand when needed.
All the facilities you’d expect from a nursing care home
A Carebase home provides exceptional nursing and social environments. Our residential nursing teams take respite and long-term stays in their stride, planning and managing care delivery. Registered nurses are on duty 24 hours a day and directly supervise the care plans of each resident – right through to palliative care and end of life planning, if necessary.
Professional care and nursing of the highest standard
We’re careful to provide the highest standards of professional care. In order to provide this level of care, all our nursing staff are state registered. And we provide ongoing training, learning and development opportunities. In addition we retain GP services to ensure all clinical needs are met.
Exceptional Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care
Carebase offers top-quality Dementia, Alzheimer’s or EMI (sometimes still referred to as elderly mental infirm) care in purpose-built homes staffed by professionally qualified dementia nurses and carers.
Our Dementia care is absolutely focused on the needs of our individual residents. We are there every step of the way, and place great importance on understanding personal likes and dislikes. Each resident receives an expert consultation to determine their needs, and a personal care plan is drawn up to include not only care and nutritional needs but wider preferences too.
We encourage all our residents to share their life stories with us, we find it strengthens bonds, forms friendships and for those with dementia, helps manage their condition through reminiscence. Over the years we have learnt some amazing facts about each other.
We always seek to involve family and relatives in the life of our homes. Our comprehensive activities programme is central to our daily routines and designed with therapeutic outcomes in mind. We have recently purchase minibuses to support our activities programme and we like to get out as much as we can.
