DESCRIPTION

The Pearl Specialised Dementia Service is provided in Craigieknowes, a purpose built care home. Every detail has been researched to ensure we achieve an environment which will enable the resident to maintain the highest possible level of independence and freedom of choice.

We have ensured that the residents will benefit from the design, layout and excellent facilities provided. The accommodation includes en-suite shower facilities with specialist bathing equipment also available to aid comfort and freedom of choice.

Our residents are encouraged to bring some of their own pieces of furniture and personal belongings with them to personalise their rooms and make their stay as comfortable as possible.

THE CARE

Our experienced and trained staff are committed to providing the highest quality care and have a detailed understanding of the unique nature of dementia. Our registered nurses and carers have additional specialised training in dementia care. Our Dementia Care Services Director has been instrumental in promoting person centred approaches to dementia care in the UK and is an acknowledged expert in this field.

Other staff also contribute to the care we provide. Our Chefs understand the special dietary needs of people with dementia and employ innovative menus and serving methods. Our housekeeping and maintenance staff contribute daily to the care and dignity of our residents.

The facilities at Craigieknowes also include a lounge area, a reminisce lounge and specially designed sensory patio.

Social care needs are seen as an essential part of overall care and our full time Activities Organiser works closely with each resident to maintain their personal goals.

DIRECTIONS

Craigieknowes is conveniently situated, being easily accessible by car from the incoming Glasgow, Fife and Dundee routes. It is within walking distance of the railway and bus stations and is served by the local buses. Local buses No''s 5/6 circular route, will drop you off at the entrance to the home.
