Birchdale is a purpose built home, providing nursing and social care in a selection of differing rooms.

Many of our rooms are for single occupancy, although several are large enough for sharing companions. Many are en-suite.

Birchdale is situated in Gateshead, within easy reach of shops and other amenities and public transport. Also nearby are the major shopping complexes of Newcastle and the ''metro centre''.

THE CARE

Birchdale is tastefully decorated and features TV lounges and several quiet sitting rooms, all overlooking the extensive private grounds.

Separate dining rooms, where residents can join the company of others at meal times are also an important feature of the home.

Our Chef prepares a wide range of home cooked food based upon traditional cooking using fresh produce. Special diets are catered for and daily choices are available.

The home is attended by an experienced hair stylist, a qualified chiropodist and a range of complementary therapies can be arranged to suit individual requirements.

A varied programme of activities also takes place in the home for the benefit of the residents.

From the A167 (Durham Road)

Take the B1426 Sunderland Road off the A167 heading east. Take the fourth right turn immediately after the zebra crossing into Moore Street and the home is on the right hand side.
