Pengover is a single storey purpose built care home surrounded by large well tended gardens which are all easily accessible. Local doctors, hospital and shops are all within walking distance of the home and a bus route runs past the home. Pengover offers a warm, friendly, homely atmosphere and laughter can often be heard throughout the building. The front door is always open for family and friends to visit, with our pet cat ‘Sooty’ waiting to greet you. We do try and accommodate residents'' pets, but this does depend on what type of pet it is. (As long as it isn’t bigger than the staff and doesn’t nibble your ankles). Visitors are also very welcome to bring their pets to visit. We encourage all visitors to stay and spend quality time with their friends or loved ones, why not stay for lunch or join in with the activities offered? Pengover has 36 bedrooms, 4 of which can accommodate couples and all rooms can be decorated to your choice and individual taste. Throughout Pengover there are 8 lounges, some have a television, others are quiet rooms to relax and read a book in or just enjoy watching the birds feed in the garden. One lounge has a large 42’ TV which is great for watching the sport or a DVD of your choice. At Pengover we promote choice in all aspects of a resident’s life, this includes meals, where special diets are catered for. Our chef can accommodate special requests and choice is given at all times. Mealtimes are flexible and can be eaten where the resident chooses. Meals are prepared using fresh ingredients, sourced locally where possible.

Residents are encouraged to join in recreational activities throughout the day where they can try out a new activity or continue with a current interest. Pengover has its own activities organizer who regularly takes the residents out individually to the shops or to a venue of their choice. Bus trips are offered three times a week and thoroughly enjoyed by all. The hairdresser visits weekly. Newspapers can be purchased and delivered on a daily basis. There is also a shop at the home and trolley for residents to purchase those essential items. Outside professionals such as doctors, chiropodists and the dentist visit the home on a regular basis. Residents can go out and visit a professional of their choice. We even have a Complementary Therapist that visits the residents in the home to offer her professional advice and expertise. The cost of care can be a concern for everyone, and we want to ensure that each resident receives the care they need to the highest standard. Each resident''s care needs are assessed on an individual basis to calculate their weekly fee; this is reviewed on a regular basis. Support and advice will be given throughout this process to ensure all parties feel involved in this very important decision. Pengover also offers other services in addition to residential care which include respite care, dayclubs, delivered meals and a laundry service. We offer services to meet your needs and services to suit your lifestyle. Cornwall Care is renowned for its training and in 2005 won a National Training Award. All the staff at Pengover are trained to a high standard, and learning is updated yearly. We pride ourselves on the care that is delivered and the services we offer.
