Situated near the heart of Newquay, Penberthy is a three storey care home with a wealth of charm and period features. The characteristics of the house reflect the atmosphere of the home itself, being open spacious and warm. Many of our rooms have sea or coastline glimpses and are within reach of Newquay’s magnificent scenery.

Newquay is a thriving town with a vast array of activities and interests for anyone wishing to persue. As well as the harbour and beaches there is also access to the zoo and boating lake. Penberthy is in close proximity to local services such as doctors surgeries, a library, chemists and shops.

Penberthy is home to 35 clients, with most rooms being single. We have 3 shared rooms of which 2 are en-suite. Prospective residents are invited to arrange their rooms to their individual requirements. T.V, satellite, telephone, and internet access can be installed by arrangement.

The building offers a choice of lounge and dining areas. The main dining room has patio doors leading out to a pleasant garden, which also becomes an extended dining space in good weather.

Our chef has created an extensive and varied menu with a choice of meals each day. Fresh local produce is sourced wherever possible. Mealtimes are a very important part of the day, often becoming social events of their own. Should any person have any particular dietary needs or special diet plans our chef will discuss these with you and cater accordingly.

Family and friends are very welcome to eat with residents, however on these occassions we would very much appreciate that prior notice is given to enable us to prepare.

Many of our staff have worked at Penberthy for a long time and are rightfully proud of their standards of care and offer total commitment to their job.
We reconise that content and committed staff contribute greatly to creating a warm, friendly and safe environment. Most of our care staff have studied and achieved their care awards and all of the care staff are required to complete our Dementia Care Training Stages 1 and 2. We believe our commitment to staff training is reflected in our Care Standards.

Recreational activities and social events are encouraged and enjoyed. We have an activities programme which includes creative therapy, musical events, crafts and social evenings. In warmer weather most residents like to make good use of our lovely garden.

Residents are invited to undertake any hobby or interest they may have either individually or with family and friends.

Penberthy has its own hair salon with the hairdresser visiting 2-3 times per week. Daily newspapers and magazines can be ordered.

Arrangements can be made for residents to go shopping with assistance if required, or alternatively shopping can be obtained for them.

We are sensitive to individual concerns regarding the cost of care and acknowledge that this is often the biggest worry. The cost of care will be calculated on an individual basis through a thorough assessment of needs.
