Nursing Care at its best, situated between York and Scarborough in beautiful North Yorkshire.
Rivermead is located on the edge of the North York Moors. It is a purpose built care home, which provides first class 24 hour general nursing care, as well as specialist care for those with dementia related illnesses. Rivermead has a good reputation and provides a truly warm welcome to all our visitors and residents.
Our home is rated ‘Good'' by the Commission of Social Care Inspection (CSCI). CSCI is the independent body that regularly inspects all care homes in England. It now publishes the ratings it awards each home - excellent, good, adequate and poor.

Quality Care

We are committed to providing professional and respectful care, whilst maintaining exceptional standards. We recognise that everyone is different, so we adapt our care to suit each persons needs.

We aim to create the right environment which supports physical and mental well-being, enabling our residents to maintain their rights, identity and independence as individuals whilst creating a spirit of trust and confidence in our professional standards. Dignity and privacy are implicit in the standards of all our homes which is encouraged with all members of staff through induction and ongoing mentorship.

New Residents

We meet all new residents wherever they are, at home, in hospital or staying with family, to ensure we can provide the care that they need and also to start to get to know them and their everyday likes and dislikes.

Each resident has a key named Nurse (if they require nursing care) and a Key Worker or Carer to ensure consistency of care. The Key Worker has time to really get to know their residents and liaises with family members to keep them up to date with their care.

We welcome relatives, friends and visitors at any time, encouraging them to be involved in their loved-ones care and part of the care home''s life.

Individual Care

Individual care plans are developed for every resident to ensure we can meet their needs. Each care plan is reviewed on a monthly basis, or more frequently if a resident''s condition changes. A full care review is also undertaken every six months which involves all key staff, the resident, family and other parties such as a Social Worker as appropriate.

Active Life

Our daily Social Activities Programmes are different in every home, providing a range of different activities to reflect the residents'' wishes and capabilities.

Our activities are designed to create a fulfilling and stimulating environment to live in, whilst supporting life skills and enhancing feelings of self-worth and purpose. Popular activities are:
Art clubs
Gardening
Exercise & movement
Photography
Baking
Arts & Crafts
Cards, quizzes and discussion groups
Various entertainers
Trips and visits within the local region in the home''s minibus
Many homes also offer spa treatments such as manicures and facials as well as complimentary therapies such as Indian head massage.

We also work in partnership with Nordoff-Robbins, the UK''s leading independent provider of music therapy services, to employ qualified music therapists to work with our residents in many homes.

Good access from A64 from York and Scarborough and surrounding areas.
