At York Road, we provide accommodation on a residential basis for 5 Young Adults with varying degrees of learning disabilities. We focus mainly on Communication skills and Autism, we strive to provide the correct support to individuals so they can achieve a high level of independence.

Overview of service

We have 3 staff on shift where possible and can also provide 1:1 support where necessary.

York Road has undergone many changes over the past year and has recently separated from the Learning Skills Council (College) environment and moved to a more specialised residential environment.

We offer 24 hour support and staff are always available to assist when and where necessary. All our care plans are person centred and individuals have plenty of opportunities to discuss their care plans with the staff.

What it's like to live here

Those who currently use our service are happy at York Road. Many regularly get involved in helping to clean, cook and tidying up. Some of individuals go to the local college where they are enrolled on life skills courses and others who go to work placement at the local nature reserve. We have a social club in the village and we meet up with our friends once a week and have a disco. Other activities include horse carriage riding, swimming, going to the cinema and bowling.

Surroundings

York Road has great bus and train links to Southport. We are only a 15 minute walk from the beach and there are annual flower and air shows that place. Numerous events take place at the local theatre and those who use our service love going out and about in Southport.

Service facilities

There is a homely and friendly environment at York Road where individuals are happy. We have 5 bedrooms which are personalised by those who use our service. We have placed an order for our own vehicle which will make accessing activities outside of Southport more available for those use our service.

York Road is a large Victorian house situated on a quiet street close to all the transport facilities. It has a medium sized garden and we have plenty of BBQ's in the summer months. There is a large trampoline in the garden which is used regularly.
