Chyvarhas is a purpose built single storey building in an ideal location in Callington. The local doctors surgery, churches, shops, supermarket, and park are all within comfortable walking distance of the home. At Chyvarhas you will find a warm, friendly and welcoming atmosphere. There are 36 rooms some of which can accommodate couples. Residents are actively encouraged to bring in some of their personal belongings to make their rooms feel like home. There are different areas around the home where you can sit and relax. There is an occupational lounge for activities, projects, and hobbies. In the evenings residents can enjoy soft music and lighting. The living areas are decorated to enhance the well being of the residents with stimulation and interest being the main factor. We also have an enclosed sensory garden with plenty of seating dotted around, a water feature, funded by the Lions of Callington, and raised flower beds for those who like gardening, this is the perfect area for residents and visitors to sit out and enjoy the sunshine. Meal times are very important part of the day. We offer a wide choice at each meal time with special diets being catered for, in a flexible and relaxed environment. Our chef is very accommodating should anyone have a special request, and families are welcome to stay and eat with their relatives if they so wish, we do make a small charge for this. Meals are made with fresh ingredients and wherever possible produce is sourced locally.

We are very proud of the level of training at Chyvarhas. Of our permanent staff 93% have completed, or are working towards their NVQ 2 in Care and as we specialise in the care of clients with dementia, all undertake our specialist dementia care training. Within Cornwall Care training is a very high priority, with all staff having training updates on a regular basis. In 2005 we won a National Training Award. The staff at Chyvarhas take great pride in their work and this can be seen in the excellent care they deliver. We fully understand that the cost of care concerns many people. The fees are calculated on an individual basis with a full assessment of the individual''s care needs. Care plans are reviewed on a monthly basis and input from the family is welcomed. General Practitioners, opticians, dentists and chiropodist attend the home on a regular basis, and a hairdresser visits twice a week. Daily papers and magazines can be delivered if requested, and there is also a little shop within the home where residents can purchase sweets and toiletries.
