Elm Tree House supports people with learning disabilities and people with early onset Dementia. We promote independence and aim to provide a safe and homely environment, where all individuals can make their own choices about the support they receive. The support at Elm Tree House is delivered by a dedicated and professional team committed to providing support focused on the needs of the individual.

Overview of Service

Elm Tree House supports people with learning disabilities and people with early onset Dementia. Individual choice is paramount and people are actively encouraged to make informed choices and maintain independence. A key worker is assigned to each individual ensuring a holistic approach to individual support. We encourage individuals and their families to actively participate in the planning of support.

Elm Tree House promotes Craegmoor's communication strategy, "Your Voice", which encourages individuals, based on their preferred method of communication, to voice their views about the support they receive. Meetings are held where individuals are able to represent the views and voices of others living at the service. This is extended to a voice at area, divisional and national level.

What it's Like to Live Here

Everyone is given the opportunity to choose and become involved in a wide range of activities, both in and out of Elm Tree House. These include attending local day centres, colleges and work placements within the community.

Individuals are also encouraged and supported to access local leisure facilities and go swimming and go to the cinema and the theatre.

Within the house we continually and consistently promote the development of social skills, independent living and personal responsibility. This includes daily skills such as shopping, cooking, doing laundry and cleaning, and tasks are dependent upon an individual's ability. The people who live here are very proud of their home as they have so much involvement in creating it.

People are encouraged to pursue and retain their own interests. 1:1 support is provided where required and all activities are arranged to meet individual's needs.

Surroundings

Elm Tree House is located in Keynsham, between Bristol and Bath. The service has good transport links and the M4 motorway is ½ hour drive away.

Service Facilities

Elm Tree House is a terraced house in a residential street. It has been tastefully decorated throughout and everyone is encouraged and supported to personalise their bedrooms to make the house as homely as possible.

There are 2 lounge areas, a dining room, a laundry, a kitchen and large grounds with a patio area.
