Trewartha is a single story purpose built care home which is situated in Carbis Bay. We care for 40 older people with varying degrees and types of dementia. At present we have four shared rooms and thirty two single rooms. We like to encourage our residents to bring with them items that will personalize their own room making it feel more like home to them. Also resident at Trewartha is our cat called “Smudge” who adopted us when left homeless. Wherever possible we welcome residents bringing in small pets. All local amenities are close by, churches, shops, chemist a newsagent and hairdresser. We have our own personal hairdresser that visit the home every week. We also have visits from a dentist, optician and chiropodist. Newspapers are delivered daily and we have a small shop which sells toiletries, cards etc. Trewartha has two dining rooms, four lounges (equipped with music and televisions) and a large conservatory where residents can sit and make friends. There is access to our lovely gardens with lots of seating areas. At present we are developing raised garden beds in our allotment for interested gardeners, also a paved area for our car for those keen mechanics. Mealtimes are flexible and friendly as this is a very important part of our day at Trewartha. Our experienced chef has recently won two company awards for commitment to the ''Appetite for Life'' programme. All food is prepared from local fresh produce. We cater for many different types of diets and have a menu to choose from. There is a choice of wines and beers. Family and friends are welcome to come and dine with residents when visiting.

Trewartha has an activities assistant who arranges a full programme of activities to suit each individual, ranging from trips out, cooking, flower arranging, painting and much more. We also have a variety of entertainers who come into the home to play music for those who love to dance. Most importantly, care at Trewartha is delivered by professional, well trained (by Cornwall Care) friendly staff. All care staff have, or are working towards Dementia 1 + 2 - NVQ 2 - Safer Moving & Handling. The senior team all have Dementia 3 and NVQ 3. Trewartha holds a G.P. surgery at the home weekly if any resident wishes to consult the doctor, but doctors are available at any time if needed. All fees are based on an individual assessment carried out by the manager or one of the care coordinators. This will enable an individual to receive the particular care that is needed.
