At The Bay we support people with learning disabilities and physical disabilities. We do everything we can to improve the health and wellbeing of the individuals we support and as a team we are focused on building positive outcomes for everyone.

Overview of Service

The Bay is 2 separate, but neighbouring houses, each with an airy lounge/dining area, kitchen, utility room and a tranquil shared garden. Both houses are small and have a homely feel about them; allowing for highly personalised support. We have the facilities to support 11 individuals.

We have access to outside professionals whenever required, including consultant psychiatrists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and physiotherapists.

All members of staff have completed Person Centred training, which is reflected in the support they provide.

What it's Like to Live Here

Many people at The Bay get involved in activities including independent living skills, bingo, arts and crafts, karaoke, music and movement and indoor sports. We have a small vegetable patch which everyone enjoys helping out in, from growing their own vegetables to maintaining the flowers in the garden. Some individuals attend day centres at Folkestone and Lydd.

The Bay encourages everybody to be involved with making meals, through menu planning and visiting local shops to purchase ingredients.

Personal trips are organised throughout the week so individuals can go shopping or visit places of interest. We have one particular individual who plays for the local table tennis team and another who helps out at the local miniature railway station, both of which they take great pride in. Everyone has the opportunity to attend a disco once a week and to socialise in the local pubs.

The atmosphere at The Bay is very relaxed and homely and individuals are encouraged and supported to personalise their own rooms.

Surroundings

The Bay is very close to the famous tourist attraction of Dymchurch; boasting sandy beaches and a funfair. There is a bus stop just outside the house that links The Bay to all local towns, places of interest, local day centres, colleges and the resource centre.

Service Facilities

The atmosphere is very relaxed and homely. Everyone is encouraged to personalise their rooms. The Bay is made up of two individual but neighbouring houses each with an airy lounge/dining area, a kitchen, a utility room and access to a tranquil shared garden which offers a relaxing atmosphere with seating for outdoor eating.
