Froxfield, between Hungerford and Marlborough, is a nursing home which caters for 44 residents and has a small unit caring for the mentally frail. Froxfield has been specifically designed to enable older people to live independent, happy and fulfilling lives. Located in the village of Froxfield, it has all the convenience of a purpose-built home while the attractive gardens, surrounding Wiltshire countryside and neighbouring 17th Century Almshouses lend it charm.
Opened in 1986, the Home provides residential and nursing care for 44 residents and includes a small unit for the mentally frail. Froxfield provides a home where older people can be helped to live as normally as possible and where the emphasis is on quality and enjoyment of life. The staff offer highly skilled nursing care and are proud to do so in an atmosphere where residents can feel they are still in ge of their own lives. Froxfield has been designed to provide a home-like atmosphere where individual needs can be met. With three separate wings, there is a feeling of living in a small family unit while residents have access to all the Home's facilities. Each of the bedrooms has a view of the gardens or surrounding fields and lanes. The entrance hall, dining room and welcoming sitting rooms are attractively furnished and provide comfortable areas where people can spend time together. Froxfield has close links with the local community and there is an active friends network. There are many regular visitors, and frequent events and outings are organised. Residents are encouraged to continue with previous leisure interests. The Homes philosophy is that residents should be able to make decisions for themselves and choose how to spend their time. There are plenty of opportunities to be sociable but peoples privacy is always respected. Led by an experienced and well-qualified Home Manager, the staff at Froxfield work as a close team and are committed to the Brendoncare philosophy. They make every effort to provide care which promotes privacy and dignity, and to understand each residents needs and preferences. Registered Nurses are always on duty supported by well-trained Care Assistants, and all the staff receive continuous education and development. Local GPs support the Home and visit regularly so that residents can be registered with the doctor of their choice. A chiropodist and physiotherapist attend the Home regularly and other services such as hairdressing can always be arranged.
Froxfield is on the A4 two miles west of Hungerford towards Marlborough, turn right past the Duchess of Somerset's Hospital into Littlecote Road and the Home is 200 yards on the right.
