Woodland is a purpose built care home in an ideal situation in St.Austell. The local doctors surgeries, library, churches and Asda superstore are all in close proximity. At Woodland you will find a warm, friendly and welcoming atmosphere. We have 36 single rooms, 8 with en-suite facilities. Prospective residents are encouraged to bring in some of their personal belongings to help them feel more at home. We have a large bright dining area which leads to any one of our 4 lounges. We are very proud of our sensory garden which was opened in May 2006 in celebration of Cornwall Care 10th Anniversary. Our garden is easily accessible to our residents enabling them to enjoy the beauty, the colour and fragrances of this pleasant garden environment. Our chef and her team produce a choice of home cooked meals and cater for special dietary needs. Meals are made with fresh ingredients and wherever possible produce is sourced locally. Mealtimes are flexible and relaxed. Our menus are regularly reviewed and residents are involved in this process. Residents are encouraged to pursue a range of indoor or outdoor recreational activities. We have our own mini-bus. Outings are regularly organised for residents to visit places in Cornwall, and residents'' requests help us to choose our destinations.
We are very proud of the level of training of the staff at Woodland. Eighty per cent of our permanent care staff have completed their NVQ Level 2 and Dementia Care Stages 1 & 2 training. Our staff take pride in the care they deliver to our residents. We know the cost of care really concerns people and we want to do a good job. Individual care assessments are carried out prior to admission and are reviewed on a regular basis. General Practitioners, opticians, dentists and chiropodist attend the home on a regular basis. A hairdresser is available 2 days a week, daily newspapers and magazines are obtained at residents'' request. We have a shop selling sweets, toiletries and cards.
