Overview of service
The Moorings is a specialised service that supports six people with physical, learning disabilities and challenging behaviours. The Moorings is situated in Poole and is specially designed to support people with complex needs.
What it's like to live here
Service users who currently live at The Moorings like to help with meal planning, cooking, cleaning, activity planning, socialising and gardening on a regular basis. Some of the people we support go on volunteer work placements and particularly enjoy this independence. Our service users enjoy an active lifestyle accessing the community for a wide range of activities.
Surroundings
The Moorings is a brand new home designed and built specifically for the people we support. It is situated close to the local shops and bus routes in Parkstone with the first residents being welcomed in January 2010. The home has six bedrooms with excellent communal facilities including a large lounge, open plan kitchen with additional dining area in the large conservatory. A utility room provides laundry facilities. There is also a sunny aspect rear garden.
Service facilities
We encourage the people we support to personalise their rooms to their own taste as well as to take an active role in the running of the home and to put forward their own ideas at the service user meetings – Your Voice. The Moorings is in close proximity to The Shores, another Craegmoor residential service, which enables residents to join together for shared activities.
