Oakhurst Court is a large country house which despite it's conversion to a nursing home retains many original features. Once the country residence of the Lord Mayor of London it is set in beautiful grounds and has it's own stream with resident ducks! There are 3 lounges, as well as a dining room and conservatory which gives everyone the communal space they need to live their own lives. The dining room is the 'heart of the home' and enjoying a meal together is a daily pleasure for the residents. All meals are home cooked favorites, Chef and his team prepare everything on site using fresh locally sourced ingredients and even some homegrown by the residents in the summer! All dietary needs and personal preferences are catered for. All bedrooms are neutrally decorated and furnished, residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms to make them their home. We now also have care suites available, giving the resident a private entertaining area with sofa, chair and occasional table, as well as bedroom and en suite facilities. Some of our care suites also have courtyard areas, or have spectacular views of the gardens.

We care for older people, and specialise in the care of those with dementia. Our philosophy is to treat each and every individual with respect, dignity and complete understanding. We tailor our specialist dementia care to meet our resident's needs which will of course change over time and we continually adapt to deal sensitively with individual wishes and needs. Matron manages the Home and leads a team of dedicated qualified nurses, trained carers, housekeeping and support staff to provide the highest standards of care to our residents throughout the 24 hour day. We also work very closely with the local general practitioner, dietician, specialist community nurses and palliative care team in order to maintain our residents optimal physical and mental health. We ensure that all our staff are kind and friendly at all times. Their training in all aspects of elder and dementia care, as well as more practical health & safety issues is a key priority. We appreciate that the transition to their new home may be a daunting time for both the resident and their family. We have a dedicated Welfare Support Worker who is able to alleviate many of their fears and anxieties and to help settle our new residents into their surroundings. Life at Oakhurst Court is as varied as our residents want it to be. We have an Activities Co-ordinator who organises a programme of regular activities including external entertainment and exercise tuition as well as reminiscence therapy, games, quizes and sing songs. We welcome you to pop in for a coffee with us, and experience our Home for yourselves.
