    Overview of service

Anchor House is a specialised service for people with physical, learning and behavioural disabilities.  Anchor House is situated in Poole and is specially designed for residents with complex needs. The residential service has seven places and welcomed its first residents at the end of 2008.

What it's like to live here

Service users who currently live at Anchor House are supported in all aspects of their care, from medication, sensory stimulation and activities to personal care. Anchor House works closely with professionals to ensure all physical and emotional needs are met. Anchor House helps to support service users to access the community and attend meaningful day activities, offering new experiences and challenges.

    Surroundings

The home has large bedrooms with excellent communal facilities, including separate lounge and kitchen area. A utility room provides laundry facilities. The service benefits from a large rear garden, including a sensory snug area and a hot tub for hydrotherapy sessions. The service is also within walking distance of shops and 2 leisure complexes. Anchor House has good sized garden with summer house and large patio for summer barbeques.

    Service facilities

We encourage the people we support to personalise their rooms to their own taste and needs. Care plans and risk assessments are persona centred to each individual to help staff with communication and specific routines, intervention and emotional support. Staff at Anchor House are trained to support service users with epilepsy, peg feed regimes and other health related issues and the service is fully equipped with overhead hoists, wet room and other equipment to fully meet the needs of individuals with physical disabilities.
