This bungalow is in a quiet residential street on the outskirts of Maidenhead, Berkshire. We currently support two ladies with profound and multiple learning disabilities and there is space for a third person to join them. The ladies are non-verbal, and like a quiet life. We support them with all aspects of daily living.

The staff team is sensitive to the needs of people with multiple disabilities, and the emphasis is on getting to know the people they support very well so that they understand their non-verbal ways of communicating. Along with mandatory training, the staff team has received training in supporting people with epilepsy.

Each person has their own bedroom, which they can personalise as much as they wish, and there is a shared bathroom which has bath and shower facilities adapted for people with physical difficulties. The people living here also share a kitchen, dining room, lounge and conservatory. There is a pretty garden to the rear, with features designed for people with visual impairments, where everyone can sit and enjoy some summer socialising, and do some gardening if they wish.

The ladies at Edith Road attend Boyn Grove day centre for regular day time activities. Horse-riding, swimming and other activities are available locally. Maidenhead town centre is within easy reach for shopping. Each person we support has a programme of activities tailor-made for their interests and needs.

The bungalow at Edith Road is close to another Voyage Care home, round the corner in Pinkneys Road. The people we support at both houses get together regularly for shared music sessions, parties, barbecues and holidays. Both homes have access to a vehicle; one vehicle is a fully adapted minibus with tail lift for wheelchairs, so that wheelchair users have full access to the community.

Family members of the people we support are very welcome to visit as often as they wish, and to be involved in the support planning process.

Maidenhead has good transport links, with easy access to the M4, M40 and M25, and a fast train line to London Paddington.
