The Priory is a large Edwardian family house, recently listed by English Heritage as a “fine example” of the period. It was originally built in the early 1900’s for a local family and is thought to have been designed by Sir Harold Brakespear. A stunning timber-framed property, the house boasts a delightful south-facing panelled drawing room with a moulded and carved fireplace; the entrance hall is also panelled with a fine oak staircase. The property was sympathetically extended and enhanced in 1989 to provide the current level of accommodation. All new rooms were designed to be above and beyond the regulations of the day for both size and layout. A beautiful and fully accessible south-facing garden has been developed with both a terrace and a patio in the half acre surrounding The Priory. They make the gardens a wonderful location for coffee mornings, fetes, parties or just fresh air. The lower garden includes The Priory’s own vegetable plot where residents are often seen advising or even assisting the gardener!

Our aim within The Priory is to care for residents in the same way and in the same environment that we would want for our own parents. It is so important that The Priory becomes a real home, with all the feelings and emotions that we associate with the word, for the residents, their families and their supporters. In delivering this commitment, a resident must be allowed privacy, dignity, independence, security, choice and fulfilment within a quality care environment. We must protect and ensure each and every individual’s human and civil rights. These objectives are the cornerstones of our philosophy and have become imbedded into the way the Home operates.

From the M4, follow the Malmesbury Road into Chippenham. Passing the park on RHS, you approach St Paul's Church on RHS - just before mini roundabout. At Church turn left into Greenway Lane, round corner with The Priory on RHS.
