At 52 Wellington Road we support 11 people with a learning disability and autism, who may also exhibit behaviours that challenge.

The service is friendly, welcoming and fun. Everyone who lives at the service is very sociable and we offer many activities, including horse riding, swimming, art and trampolining, as well as visiting nearby beaches, the Quantocks Hills and local towns. We are familiar faces in the area and have good relationships with our local shops and cafes.

We believe the quality of life of the people who live at the service is the most important thing. We strive to give everyone freedom of choice and independence, within a safe and happy environment. We hold regular meetings for people living at the service – it is their home, therefore it should be run in the way they want. We encourage everyone to be involved in as much decision making as possible.

When one gentleman moved in with us he would not interact with or speak to anyone, with support he is now very sociable, and laughs and chats with people in the service and out and about. He is more content and his family have been pleased at the massive change in him.

The staff are all committed to giving the highest standard of support and are team players. We have a low staff turnover, giving consistent support. Staff receive training tailored to individuals’ needs, as required.

The service is in an urban area and is close to local facilities and public transport. The supermarket is five minutes walk away and we are only a 15 minute walk from the town centre.

The service offers a good standard of accommodation, with spacious shared areas, a modern kitchen and front and back gardens. All of the 11 bedrooms have en-suite facilities and the service is wheelchair accessible.
