Trengrouse is a single storey purpose built care home in an ideal situation in Helston. The local doctors surgeries, library, churches and shops are all in close proximity. At Trengrouse you will find a warm, friendly and welcoming atmosphere. We have 41 rooms. Twelve are large rooms which could accommodate couples, and the remaining are single. Prospective residents are encouraged to bring in some of their personal belongings to help them feel more at home. We have a smoking policy of which everyone is made aware. We have a resident cat called ‘Ginger’ and in addition to him two clients brought their budgies with them. We try whenever possible to accommodate pets, but this does depend on what type of pets they are (and how well they behave). Most residents find having animals around very comforting and much like being at home. There are 4 lounges to choose from and one large dining room all of which look out on a central, enclosed courtyard garden. This is a pleasant and easily accessible area for residents and visitors to sit out and enjoy the summer sunshine. This garden has won the Helston in Bloom competition! Mealtimes are a very important part of the day. We offer a choice at all meals and special diets are catered for. Mealtimes are flexible and relaxed and our chef is very accommodating should anyone have a special request. We have been trying cuisine from around the world recently and many residents have been surprised at what they have discovered. Families are welcome to stay for meals with their relatives for which we make a small charge. Meals are made with fresh ingredients and wherever possible produce is sourced locally.

We are very proud of the level of training of the staff at Trengrouse. 90% of our permanent care staff have completed their NVQ level 2 and Dementia stage 1 & 2 training. Within Cornwall Care, training for the staff is updated on a regular basis. We even won a National Training Award in 2005. Many of our staff have worked at Trengrouse for a long time and pride themselves on the care they deliver. Residents are encouraged to pursue a range of recreational activities from craft to painting or cooking, musical afternoons and gardening for which we had purpose built raised flower beds installed. We know that the cost of care really concerns people and we want to do a good job. Calculation of fees is done on an individual basis with an assessment of residents’ needs reviewed on a regular basis. General Practitioners, opticians, dentists and chiropodist attend the home on a regular basis. A hairdresser is available 2 - 3 days per week and daily papers and magazines are delivered daily if requested. There is also an on site shop selling sweets, toiletries, cards etc. available as and when required.
