Sonya Lodge Residential Care Centre is a homely 37 bedded Care Home providing care for the older person with a diagnosis of Dementia. Acquired in 2007, it has been completely renovated with a purpose-built extension to meet the needs of a first class modern Care Home.

Sonya Lodge Residential Care Centre is located just outside Dartford in the small but popular village of Wilmington, which is easily reached by car or public transport. The Home is within walking distance of the local church, where many of our residents enjoy the coffee mornings and luncheon club. The Home itself is set within a quiet residential area in Dartford, Kent with fully landscaped private grounds. This calm, natural environment is ideal as a safe and secure place for residents to wander without risk ands is complimented by the house itself, which has been redesigned to meet the most exacting standards.

Each of the 37 single bedrooms are bright and homely, with every room tastefully decorated and furnished. Residents are encouraged to bring in their own personal items from home, be they photos or anything that is precious to them. There are five comfortable lounges – including a library lounge, fireside lounge and TV lounge – a spacious dining area and sunny conservatory, which opens onto a peaceful garden with flowerbeds and outdoor seating. Other amenities include a cinema room and an old-fashioned shop selling treats and toiletries.

The Home has an excellent catering service providing three meals a day, using lcoally sourced fresh ingredients. There is always a choice on the menus for every meal and special diets are catered for. Currently, strawberry teas and cheese and wine afternoons are proving very popular! There is also a purpose-built Hair Salon and an excellent laundry service.

There are links to local GPs, Chiropodists and Opticians who visit the home on a regular basis. The Home also has a full-time Activities Co-ordinator who provides a range of group activities both inhouse and in the community. Individuals are encouraged to get out as often as possible with support, so a visit to the shopping centre or local pub is possible if so desired. Spiritual needs are provided by the local centres of worship.

One of the aims of Sonya Lodge is to be at the forefront of Dementia care provision. The Home endeavours to support the needs of individuals with their rights, choices, independence and inclusion, which allows each individual to be themselves. Staff concentrate on what the residents can do, rather than what they can't.
