Ledbury Intermediate Care Unit provides short stay nursing rehabilitation for up to 14 NHS patients requiring step down care following surgery or medical intervention in hospital or step up care following an illness or incident at home which requires some stabilisation or therapy input prior to returning home. The intermediate care unit is located within the Ledbury Community Health Centre in the centre of the market town of Ledbury. Shaw healthcare operate the service in partnership with Herefordshire NHS Primary Care Trust with a dedicated team of experienced nursing staff supported by consultants, GP''s, occupational and physiotherapy and other healthcare professionals.

Moving into residential or nursing care can be a difficult decision but is often necessary for older people who can no longer manage on their own or with the help of relatives, friends or other carers. But in Shaw care homes our friendly professional staff are trained to make the transition hassle free and ensure that independence and the key components of daily living are maintained as much as possible. We aim to provide you with choices - over your personal care, what and when you eat, whether you want some peace and quiet or to join in a range of social activities. All this is provided in homely and comfortable surroundings - and with your own private bedroom. There are two types of care home, those which provide personal care only and those which also provide nursing care. All homes provide meals, laundry service and personal care such as help with washing, dressing, general mobility and day-to-day tasks. Nursing homes provide all of these services but additionally they employ registered, trained nurses who are able to provide health-related care. Government assistance with the cost of this nursing care is available to everyone and is not means-tested.
