At Robinson House we provide support for people with learning disabilities, Autism and challenging behaviour. We aim to enable all individuals to make their own choices about the support they receive. We do everything we can to improve the health and wellbeing of the individuals we support and as a team we are focused on building positive outcomes for everyone.

Overview of Service

At Robinson House we provide 24 hour support for people with learning disabilities, Autism and challenging behaviour. The support is delivered by a dedicated Multi Disciplinary Team of staff who aim to enable individuals to live as independently as possible.

We also support people who have Epilepsy and Diabetes. We have excellent contacts with the local GP, who regularly visits Robinson House, as do dieticians, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists and nurses specialising in Diabetes and Epilepsy.

What it's like to Live Here

The people that we support are encouraged through their Person Centred Plans to achieve their goals and aspirations. For some people this means attending college to access various courses, including cooking, art and daily living skills. For others it means work placements and other day opportunities in line with their goals.

Within the house we continually and consistently promote the development of social skills, independent living and personal responsibility. Daily tasks to develop these skills include shopping, cooking, doing laundry and cleaning, and tasks are dependent upon an individual's ability. The people who live here are very proud of their home as they have so much involvement in creating it.

Robinson House promotes Craegmoor's communication strategy, "Your Voice", which encourages individuals, based on their preferred method of communication, to voice their views about the support they receive. Monthly meetings are held where individuals are able to represent the views and voices of others living at the service. This is extended to a voice at area, divisional and national level.

Surroundings

The local town has shops and cafés and pubs for refreshments. There is a regular bus service that provides easy access to the larger towns, which have bowling alleys, swimming pools, cinemas and other entertainment facilities. It only takes 45 minutes to get to the coast for a day at the seaside.

Service Facilities

Robinson House is a modern and purpose built property. There are 3 bedrooms on the ground floor and 7 on the first floor, and everyone is encouraged and supported to personalise their bedrooms. There are 3 bathrooms, and the downstairs bathroom has a bath hoist for people with physical disabilities. There is a large communal lounge area and a smaller lounge and a separate dining room. The kitchen is large, and the units and worktops were chosen by individuals living at Robinson House.

Outside, the garden is large and has a patio area. There is also an area for people to grow their own vegetables.
