Alphonsus House supports people with learning disabilities. At Alphonsus House we do everything we can to improve the health and wellbeing of the individuals we support and as a team we are focused on building positive outcomes for everyone.
Overview of the Service
Alphonsus House is situated in Langley, near Oldbury, in the West Midlands. The service is split into 3 houses and a bungalow, each offering a homely environment. We have the facilities to support 16 individuals across the 3 houses. The dedicated staff at Alphonsus House provide 24 hour support.
Everyone is encouraged to be involved in their Person Centred Plans. Alphonsus House promotes Craegmoor's communication strategy, "Your Voice", which encourages individuals, based on their preferred method of communication, to voice their views about the support they receive.
What it's Like to Live Here
The people that we support are encouraged through their Person Centred Plans to achieve their goals and aspirations. For some people this means attending college to access various courses, including cooking, art and daily living skills. For others it means work placements and other day opportunities in line with their goals.
Within the house we continually and consistently promote the development of social skills, independent living skills and personal responsibility. Daily tasks to develop these skills include shopping, cooking, doing laundry and cleaning. Tasks are dependent upon an individual's ability. The people who live here are very proud of their home as they have so much involvement in creating and maintaining it.
Surroundings
Alphonsus House has good public transport links as there are bus stops right outside the property. There are shops within easy reach on foot or by bus and Langley train station is also a short walk away.
West Bromwich town centre and Bearwood shopping centre are nearby and they have many high street shops.
Service Facilities
There is a sensory room for people living at Alphonsus House to use at any time. All bedrooms are personalised to individual preferences.
A number of bedrooms are situated on the ground floor of each of the houses and are accessible for people who may use wheelchairs.
Each of the 3 houses all have a fully equipped kitchen and laundry facilities, which are shared.
