At Aire House we support 8 people with learning disabilities. We do everything we can to improve the health and wellbeing of the individuals we support and as a team we are focused on building positive outcomes for everyone.
Overview of the Service
Aire House is a 24 hour service, providing quality support for adults with learning disabilities.
Everyone is encouraged to contribute to the development and evaluation of their own Person Centred Plan. It is also encouraged that family members, social workers and others chosen by the individual are involved in this process.
We encourage family involvement and support everyone to maintain and build relationships of their choice, while promoting individual independence.
What it's Like to Live Here
There are many educational and activity programmes to get involved in at Aire House. Activities include attending the local college, adult training centres and our own vocational skills centre.
Within the house we continually and consistently promote the development of social skills, independent living and personal responsibility. These include daily skills such as cooking, doing laundry and cleaning. Tasks are dependent upon each individual's ability.
The people who live here are very proud of their home as they have so much involvement in creating it.
Many enjoy the social occasions arranged by Aire House, such as; eating out, going shopping, going to music concerts, football or rugby matches, trips to theme parks, visits to the local Turkish Spa baths and much, much more.
We also support people to have home visits as well as an annual holiday.
Surroundings
Approximately a 2 minute walk away there are local shops including a pharmacy, a post office, a newsagent and a small supermarket, as well as a large local park.
The main town of Harrogate is approximately one mile away. Within the town there are good national rail and bus links as well as a range of shops, cafes, restaurants, a Turkish Spa bath and a bowling alley.
Harrogate has a main college just outside of town and there are smaller learning centres in and around the local area.
Service Facilities
The house itself is a Victorian property set over 4 floors, with communal areas set over the lower 2 floors. It has paved areas to the front and the rear; at the rear we have picnic tables and in the summer people enjoy having BBQs and spending time outside.
All bedrooms are spacious, well-furnished and decorated to individuals' tastes. Two of the bedrooms are en-suite. We offer 1:1 staffing where required. There is a nurse-call system in place in each room. Communal areas include the kitchen, dining rooms, laundry room and lounge and they have all been refurbished to provide a comfortable and homely living environment.
The menu is developed by individuals to suit personal preference and reviewed within the monthly 'Your Voice' meetings. Everyone is encouraged to prepare their own meals and snacks.
