The Hawthorns care home is a specialist facility for elderly people with dementia in Evesham. We employ clinical specialists and qualified professional carers which means that all nursing and personal care needs are fully met. Evidence based practice includes Dementia Care Mapping and other therapeutic activities. The Hawthorns has four self contained dementia care units and in each there are ten comfortable ensuite bedrooms. These four different units offer a range of accommodation and care to afford you and your loved ones real peace of mind. The homely environment linked with therapeutic activities encourages confidence and assists in maintaining daily living skills. The care of each individual is our highest priority and we believe that residents and their families should contribute towards the planning of their care and that care plans should be individually tailored to meet personal needs. Regular assessments are undertaken leading to the development of agreed and realistic goals for each person. This forms the basis for Person Centered Care Planning which determines the level of support, specialist input and other resources the individual and their family needs.
Moving into residential or nursing care can be a difficult decision but is often necessary for older people who can no longer manage on their own or with the help of relatives, friends or other carers. But in Shaw care homes our friendly professional staff are trained to make the transition hassle free and ensure that independence and the key components of daily living are maintained as much as possible. We aim to provide you with choices - over your personal care, what and when you eat, whether you want some peace and quiet or to join in a range of social activities. All this is provided in homely and comfortable surroundings - and with your own private bedroom. There are two types of care home, those which provide personal care only and those which also provide nursing care. All homes provide meals, laundry service and personal care such as help with washing, dressing, general mobility and day-to-day tasks. Nursing homes provide all of these services but additionally they employ registered, trained nurses who are able to provide health-related care. Government assistance with the cost of this nursing care is available to everyone and is not means-tested.
