Specialises in: Behavioural support, Learning disability, Prader-Willi Syndrome

Hamilton Lodge provides support for ten individuals with learning disabilities and complex needs, who may show behaviours that challenge.

It is a villa style property which was built in the 1800s and is situated on the outskirts of Doncaster town centre. Its location provides easy access to all local amenities and recreational and educational facilities, such as Doncaster College and the Dome Leisure Park. In addition, Doncaster has a large shopping centre, a new football stadium and a university, making it a very exciting place to live.

The ethos of the service is to provide a high quality of care to each individual within a homely environment with the staff supporting each person to build their everyday living skills and reach their full potential. Staff work hard to provide the information and knowledge which each person requires in order to make decisions on how they wish to live their lives.

Each individual is appointed a key worker and co-worker who support them in all aspects of their lives. Care is delivered using a person centred approach and we encourage families and friends to be part of this process. The staff team work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team, including healthcare professionals, social workers and anyone else who is involved with the person. We encourage everyone to have a healthy diet which meets their individual needs, supporting them to choose and help prepare their meals.

People are encouraged to take part in a variety of activities, both at the service and in the community. In house activities include baking, arts and crafts, playing board games and gardening. The service makes full use of local facilities such as the swimming pool, the cinema, local parks and local Mencap facilities.

Holidays are planned throughout the year. Each person is encouraged to choose where they would like to visit and are supported by staff while on holiday.

Hamilton Lodge consists of the main house, which contains eight bedrooms with en-suite facilities, and a separate cottage made up into self contained flats.

The main house also has a large communal room, a smaller lounge, which can be used as a quiet room or activity room, and a large dining room which can seat up to 16 people. There is also a smaller dining room next to the kitchen.

The two self contained flats each consist of a kitchenette/lounge, a bedroom, a bathroom and a small garden patio area.

The grounds of Hamilton Lodge are spacious and well maintained and accessed via a sweeping driveway.

The service has its own vehicle which can be used for appointments, activities and to visit relatives.
