Belmont Road supports people with profound and multiple learning disabilities and individuals with Epilepsy, Tuberous Sclerosis, Cerebral Palsy and individuals who are deaf or who have visual impairments. We do everything we can to improve the health and wellbeing of the individuals we support and as a team we are focused on building positive outcomes for everyone.

Overview of Service

Belmont Road consists of 2 self-contained bungalows, which have friendly and homely atmospheres.

Everyone has their own bedroom. We have specialist baths and hoist equipment. There is also a large enclosed garden, with a trampoline and a wheelchair swing. The garden has been fully adapted for people with physical disabilities.

Our staff are highly trained to support people with Epilepsy, Tuberous Sclerosis and Cerebral Palsy, as well as individuals who are deaf or who have visual impairments.

What it's Like to Live Here

The people that we support are encouraged through their Person Centred Plans to achieve their goals and aspirations. For some people this means attending college to access various courses, including cooking, art and daily living skills. For others it means work placements and other day opportunities in line with their goals.

For people who are home during the day we have regular music, pottery, cookery and reflexology sessions.

Within the house we continually and consistently promote the development of social skills, independent living and personal responsibility. Daily tasks to develop these skills include shopping, cooking, doing laundry and cleaning. Tasks are dependent upon an individual's ability. The people who live here are very proud of their home as they have so much involvement in creating it.

Belmont Road promotes Craegmoor's communication strategy, "Your Voice", which encourages individuals, based on their preferred method of communication, to voice their views about the support they receive. Monthly meetings are held where individuals are able to represent the views and voices of others living at the service. This is extended to area, divisional and national level.
