Opened in February 2010 Primrose Place is a private 12 bedded dementia unit situated on the ground floor at Longlands care centre in Daventry. Primrose Place has been decorated and furnished to a high standard, in tune with the needs of its client group and includes a light airy lounge / diner overlooking secure mature gardens. We offer high quality person centred dementia care in a small family sized setting. Each of the 12 bedrooms offers en suite facilities, with tasteful furniture. Each room has its own door bell, memory box and specialist dementia signage. The corridors leading to the bedrooms are wide offering hand rails for safety together with down lights to prevent worrying shadows. Photographic memorabilia adorns the walls. From the corridors there is also access to communal toilets and a large assisted bathroom with electric bath chair and hand rails close to all bathroom appliances. Our residential clients have access to our respite dementia wing and also our 16 place dementia day service which includes a large games room. Primrose Place encourages activities daily, keeping residents alert and content with our highly trained staff on hand around the clock. Surrounding Primrose Place are mature well stocked gardens and patio areas. A variety of nutritious meals are served from our in house kitchen, offering daily choices alongside our mealtime experience ambiance. Picture menus are used to help some dementia residents choose meals with more ease, finger snack foods are offered daily.

Moving into residential or nursing care can be a difficult decision but is often necessary for older people who can no longer manage on their own or with the help of relatives, friends or other carers. But in Shaw care homes our friendly professional staff are trained to make the transition hassle free and ensure that independence and the key components of daily living are maintained as much as possible. We aim to provide you with choices - over your personal care, what and when you eat, whether you want some peace and quiet or to join in a range of social activities. All this is provided in homely and comfortable surroundings - and with your own private bedroom. There are two types of care home, those which provide personal care only and those which also provide nursing care. All homes provide meals, laundry service and personal care such as help with washing, dressing, general mobility and day to day tasks. Nursing homes provide all of these services but additionally they employ registered, trained nurses who are able to provide health related care. Government assistance with the cost of this nursing care is available to everyone and is not means-tested.
