Supporting You in Somerset aims to provide quality, focused housing and support to individuals with a wide range of needs. We are committed to providing an individualised service to individuals within a framework of equal opportunities, anti-discrimination and respect.

Overview of Service

Our key aims and objectives are to provide accommodation for people with mental health problems; to assist in their resettlement and to enable them to move on to more appropriate long-term housing within a two-year period.

We have a high success rate when moving tenants into their own independent accommodation and working with key agencies to provide the best and most suitable support that can be offered.

Once an individual has moved on to their own independent accommodation there are many things that they may need support with e.g. setting up bills, furnishing their flat, settling into the new area, benefit changes, community care grant applications and filling in forms. We offer outreach support-to-support those with all these issues with the aim to making the whole moving experience less stressful.

We also have strong links with the local council and we can support tenants with the new choice based letting system.

The service provides staff cover that is flexible dependent on the support needs of its individuals though cannot provide waking night cover.

The service is currently staffed between 9.00am and 6.00pm weekdays and 9.00am and 4.00pm at weekends, there is also an on-call service for emergencies when staff are not on duty.

What it's like to live here

Supporting You in Somerset aims to enable individuals to feel confident enough to move on to longer-term accommodation within two years at the service.

Each tenant is allocated a Key worker from the staff team. Key workers work on an individual basis with each tenant in a flexible manner dependant on the tenant's needs. This is to assist them to meet their future goals and aspirations in their endeavour to become as independent as they can. This support may include anything from an occasional chat to attending work placements with them, cooking, budgeting, accessing education and services, maintaining the accommodation etc.

Surroundings

There is many public transport links including bus and rail. Our service easily accessible to the local shops and the town centre which include most high street stores. The railway station is very close by and the bus station is also in the town centre.

Service facilities

Supporting You in Somerset consists of three 3-bedroom houses; a two bedroom flat and a self- contained 1 bedroom flat. We offer low/medium-supported accommodation for people with enduring mental health needs to those between the ages of 18 and 65.

All houses are situated in quiet residential streets and all properties are accompanied by large gardens.

Each house consists of 3 single rooms arranged over the 1st floors, with shared bathroom facilities. On the ground floors there is a well-equipped kitchen and a good-sized communal lounge. There are two 1-2-bedroom flats close by and all tenants can access staff support from the main office.

Unfortunately our properties do not have disabled access.
